Job description

Salary: $30 - $40 per hour

Maxim Healthcare Services is seeking a Novice Nurse (LPN/LVN) with less than 12 months of experience. The Novice Nurse is responsible for providing and documenting skilled nursing care tailored to each patient's needs, following physician’s orders when applicable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care and contracted services.
  2. Provide skilled nursing care in accordance with prescribed orders on each assignment.
  3. Identify and document changes in the patient's physiological and psycho-social conditions.
  4. Notify the Director/Supervisor about significant changes or physician notifications for interventions, as per regulations.
  5. Adhere to Maxim policies, procedures, and protocols.
  6. Prioritize actions based on patient care requirements.
  7. Ensure patient safety at all times.
  8. Document patient participation, care plans, outcomes, and interventions accurately.
  9. Perform treatments, interventions, and medication administration as per care plan and policies.
  10. Monitor and document the effectiveness of interventions and medications.
  11. Create a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients.
  12. Monitor safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment, including universal precautions.
  13. Participate in communication activities to promote good interpersonal relations.
  14. Report significant patient status changes to the appropriate clinical staff.
  15. Document all care and coordination activities in the medical record.
  16. Attend case conferences, team meetings, and educational sessions as required.
  17. Follow professional standards including Nurse Practice Act, accreditation standards, and legal requirements.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  2. Valid nursing license.
  3. Maintain a minimum GPA; consider exceptions with leadership approval.
  4. Adhere to professional standards and practices.
  5. Provide a current resume with clinical hours and rotations.
  6. Submit two references, preferably including a clinical instructor.
  7. Maintain current CPR certification.
  8. Complete PPD or chest X-ray if applicable.
  9. Successfully complete Maxim's Novice Nurse orientation and training.
