Job summary

Mercy Hospital Springfield is seeking a flexible RN for the Gig Nursing Program (PRN/Per Diem) with day or night shifts available. Earn $40/hour base plus variable incentives, with W-2 employment and a 12-hour minimum every 90 days. Shifts include 4, 8, or 12 hours and flexible community coverage.

Roles span Behavioral Health, ED, ICU, MS, and Women’s Health; requires RN licensure (compact), BSN preferred, and BLS/ACLS/PALS as indicated. Epic experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program.
• BSN preferred.
• Compact RN license required.
• One year of recent bedside RN experience for Med Surg; two years for ED/ICU.
• BLS for Med Surg, Behavioral Health, and Women’s Health; ACLS for Critical Care; PALS for ED.
• Epic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care and maintain professional accountability.
• Coordinates patient care with other departments and maintains patient rights and confidentiality.
• Performs duties in alignment with Mercy Service Standards and organizational mission.
• Participates in the Gig Nursing Program and ensures scheduling flexibility and coverage.

Overview:

Are you seeking a flexible incentivized Registered Nurse position? Ability to pick up day shift OR night shift- whatever works best for you! No weekend, holiday, or shift requirement. Participation in the Gig Nursing Program requires being responsible for scheduling a minimum number of hours, being available on short notice, being flexible and subject to last minute shift cancellation. The Gig Nursing Program does not offer guaranteed shift hours and will be the first for cancellation.

• Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Medical-Surgical (MS)
• Women’s Health (L&D, NICU, M&B)

Qualifications:

• Required Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program

• Preferred Education:

  • BSN

• Licensure:

  • Is responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current compact RN license

• Experience:

  • One year of recent bed-side RN experience to work Med Surg.
  • For all other specialties (ED, ICU, etc.) a minimum of two years of recent bed-side RN experience.

• Certifications:

  • For Med Surg, Behavioral Health, and Women’s Health (L&D, NICU, M&B) - BLS

• For Critical Care (CC) - BLS, ACLS

• For Emergency Department (ED) - BLS, ACLS, & PALS

• Additional Certifications may be required after start

• Preferred Experience:

  • Epic experience
