Job summary

St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, CA, part of Dignity Health, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced setting. The role emphasizes critical assessment, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and skilled procedures to support recovery and safety.

Required CA RN licensure, BLS/ACLS, and 1 year CCU or 3 years Acute Care experience; outpatient GI lab experience welcomed. Competitive pay range reported: $58.70–$73.30 hourly.

Qualifications

  • 1 year experience in Critical Care or 3 years Acute Care or 1 year Outpatient GI Lab.
  • Registered Nurse: CA license, upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) required upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to assess/interpret age-specific data across patient groups.
  • Encourages involvement of patient/family in plan of care decisions.
  • Performs priority procedures safely within scope of practice and policy.
  • Executes all procedures efficiently and effectively for assigned patients.
  • Acts as a resource for procedures and identifies unsafe care practices.

  • Encourages involvement of patient/family/significant other in decision making related to plan of care: .1 identifies patient/caregiver teaching needs .2 identifies patient safety issues .3 Identifies patient comfort / pain issues (CNI / CNII / CNIII)
  • Performs the priority procedures for the assigned patients or areas safely - without causing harm legally - within the scope of practice and SMMC policy and in a manner perceived as satisfying by the patient and family. (CNI / CNII / CNIII)
  • Performs all procedures for the assigned patients or areas: .1 efficiently - using the fewest possible resources .2 effectively - achieving the intended results (CNII / CNIII)
  • Acts as a resource for all procedures for the assigned patients or areas. (CNIII)
  • Identifies actual and potentially unsafe care practices, initiates actions as appropriate to prevent or correct and reports in a timely manner. (CNI / CNII / CNIII)
