The American School for the Deaf (ASD), founded in 1817, is the oldest school for the deaf. It is committed to serving deaf and hard of hearing infants, youth, and their families through specially designed instruction using an American Sign Language and English Bilingual Approach, empowering them to become educated and self-directed lifelong learners.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Registered Nurse for a full-time, 12-month position. The role involves working the 3rd shift, four nights per week, with alternating weekends. The working hours are from 9:30 pm to 7:30 am. The position remains open until filled, with updates as of 6/13/2024, and the posting date is 5/13/2025.

ASD is located in West Hartford, a family-friendly town with excellent schools, parks, recreation, and shopping options.

Scope of Duties

• Provide medical care to students and staff under supervision.
• Administer and document medication for students.
• Assist Medical Consultant as needed.
• Address medical and emergent needs of students.
• Provide care for in-patient students.
• Conduct annual student screenings and documentation.
• Handle change of shift responsibilities.
• Participate as a member of the Student Health Center Team.
• Assist with paperwork and other duties as assigned.
