Responsibilities

  • Stay current with best practices in endoscopy and gastroenterology nursing.

  • Confirm consent forms are accurate and signed prior to procedures.
  • Maintain proper body alignment during procedures.
  • Ensure all supplies and equipment are ready and tested.
  • Care for specimens and cultures per policy.
  • Complete documentation and charges.
  • Accompany patient to care unit and report to nurse on procedure details.
  • Interview patient prior to procedure to assess needs.
  • Prepare supplies and organize materials for patient and procedure.
  • Demonstrate age-specific competency across life span.
  • Perform duties as assigned by surgical services leadership.
  • Respond promptly to patient needs and concerns.

Job Description:
  • 1.Stay current with best practice and advancements in edoscopy and gastroenterology nursing.
  • 2.Ensures that proper technique and practice are used according to accepted standards.

  • 10.Accompanies patient to patient care unit and reports to nurse on patient procedure and special happenings.
  • 11.Interviews patient prior to procedure to facilitate knowledge of patient, assesses condition and needs.
  • 12.Prepares supplies and organizes materials with respect to special needs of patient and procedure.
  • 13.Age Specific Competency: Staff members will have knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and have the ability to meet the needs of and provide the care of these patients. The age categories to be included are: Adolescence 13 - 17 yrs; Young Adult/Adult 18 – 64 yrs; Adult/Middle-Aged 65 - 79 yrs; Geriatric 80+ yrs
  • 14.Performs duties as assigned by surgical services leadership.
