Qualifications

Job Description

The Triage and Assessment Counselor/Nurse provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, determines appropriate level of care and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. Triage and Assessment Counselor/Nurse receives individual/family walk-ins with compassion, empathy, a sense of urgency, and to ensure each person receives an appropriate assessment. Thorough and accurate documentation is a critical component of the job.

Qualifications
Job Requirements
Education:

Licensed Physicians, APRN’s, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Registered Nurses, Masters in Social Work, Masters in Counseling, Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, or Masters of Psychology required.

Experience:

Prior emergency department, intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting preferred, but not required.

Licensure/Certification:

Licensure and registration by the Tennessee Board of Nurse Examiners as a registered nurse.

Knowledge:

Must possess knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management and CPR training.
