Job summary

HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in Miami is seeking a Registered Nurse for its free-standing ED. The RN coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with medical providers and the care team.

You will advocate for patients and contribute to core nursing standards and outcomes. Responsibilities include pain assessment, performing procedures, timely documentation, patient education, and guiding families on treatment plans and self-management.

Qualifications

• Florida RN license (or Compact) per Florida requirements.
• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current BLS certification, or obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Current ACLS certification, or obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience and 1 year of ED experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly and promote effective pain management.
• Perform procedures and document care in medical record.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs.
• Educate patients/families about conditions, treatment plans and medications.
• Prepare patients for follow-up measures and self-management.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standard of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

What qualifications you will need:

• Current Florida license as Registered Nurse or Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)
• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• 1 year acute care experience
• 1 year minimum ED experience
