Job summary

Huntsville Hospital Health System seeks a Float Pool nurse for Women and Children’s Hospital to provide nursing and technical support across multiple units, from newborns to adults. The role includes a thorough orientation on Mother/Baby, Pediatrics, PICU, Women’s surgery and RNICU, with a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited nursing program, current Alabama/Multi-state RN license, BLS before orientation, and PALS/NRP within 1 year of hire.

Qualifications

• PALS and NRP required within 1 year of hire.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience.

Overview

Women and Children’s Float Pool provides nursing and tech support to clinical areas within Women and Children’s Hospital. Our nurses focus on the medical needs and treatment of a broad range of ages from newborn to adults. A thorough orientation is provided on Mother/Baby, Pediatrics, PICU, Women’s surgery and RNICU. Each unit has yearly unit specific competencies that must be maintained by the Float Staff. Each unit provides individual education to meet the needs of their patient population. **A minimum of 2 years experience is required.

Qualifications

Education required: Graduate of accredited school of nursing

License, certification and/or registration: Must have a current Alabama/Multi-state nursing license. BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period. PALS, NRP required within 1 year of hire.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years experience required.

Additional skills/abilities: Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently. Department specific competencies must be completed within the provisional period
