Job summary

LE01 Phelps County Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver direct patient care using the nursing process, with a focus on safety and quality.

You will follow policy on infection control, manage central lines, administer medications, and educate patients and families while collaborating with the health care team.

A Missouri RN license, BLS, and a year of experience are preferred; graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Job description

General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care using the nursing process, demonstrating clinical competence relevant to their area of practice and adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow established hospital policy regarding patient safety measures such as infection prevention, safe patient handling and movement, critical lab notification, etc., to provide patient care in an optimally safe environment.
  • Maintain and care for central lines and prevent surgical site infections per policy.
  • Provide quality nursing care including medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family teaching.
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments in all aspects of patient care to monitor patient status, improve quality, enhance patient safety, and provide accurate information to health care team members.
  • Document all patient care activities and required quality monitoring items to comply with established quality measures and support clinical decision making.
  • Communicate patient information to physicians and appropriate team members to improve patient outcomes.
  • Delegate as appropriate while maintaining an atmosphere fostering teamwork and accountability.
  • Communicate with patient and family members in a timely manner to enhance the patient experience and provide education to support health care outcomes.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking in nursing practice and attempt to develop skills and abilities through continuing education.
Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.

Work Experience

One year of experience preferred.

Certification / License
  • Current RN license in the State of Missouri or Compact Licensure.
  • Graduate nurses (GNs) must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
Mental / Physical Requirements

Considerable mental concentration required. Lifting up to 35 lbs., turning activities, standing, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, reaching, and nearly constant walking required.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious disease and communicable disease via blood and other bodily fluids. May encounter hostile persons at times.
