Job summary

Highpoint Health Sumner, a 167-bed hospital in Gallatin, TN, seeks an RN for a FloatPool PRN role. You will provide direct patient care, float across units, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality care.

Responsibilities include documentation, patient condition monitoring, and patient education. This role requires an active RN license, BCLS, and willingness to float and cover different shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1-2 years minimum bedside RN experience required; 2-4 years critical care experience preferred.
• Current RN license in state of practice.
• BCLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred; Handle with Care preferred.
• Strong critical thinking and decisive judgment; ability to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments.
• Ability to learn and navigate multiple clinical software systems; effective English communication; complete Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process across multiple inpatient units.
• Floats where needed and collaborates with interprofessional teams to support safe, high-quality care.
• Documents care in a timely, accurate manner.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assists with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, psychosocial/spiritual support).
• Assesses learning needs; provides age- and culture-appropriate patient/family education.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
• Participates in performance improvement and required education; works other shifts/units as needed and may take on-call assignments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
