Job summary

Providence is seeking a qualified RNFA to assist the surgeon intra-operatively in Orange, CA. Under supervision, you will control bleeding, provide wound exposure, and suture using nursing and medical functions, in accordance with California BRN and hospital policies.

The role emphasizes patient safety, teamwork with the operating room staff, and adherence to established procedures. A California RN license, BLS, and accredited RNFA training are required; 3 years of OR scrub/circulate experience

Qualifications

• Accredited RNFA course completed.
• Completion of program hours/cases as required.
• California RN license active at hire.
• BLS certification at hire.
• Minimum 3 years scrubbing and circulating in OR.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon intra-operatively by controlling bleeding and providing wound exposure.
• Suture and perform surgical tasks using nursing and medical functions.
• Work under CA BRN guidelines and hospital policies to ensure patient safety.

Description

Under the direct supervision of the operating surgeon, the RNFA functions during the intra-operative phase by directly assisting the surgeon in controlling bleeding, providing wound exposure, suturing and other surgical tasks utilizing nursing and medical functions. The RNFA assists the surgeon in providing the patient with a safe operative experience. Utilizing specific knowledge, skills and judgment the RNFA performs these functions in accordance with the California Board of Registered Nursing, the RN as First Assistant to the Surgeon. In addition, the RNFA performs under the standardized procedure outlined in St. Joseph Hospital policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Coursework/Training and Successful completion of an accredited RNFA course and
• Coursework/Training and Completion of established hours/cases of program
• Upon hire: California Registered Nurse License
• Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
• 3 years of experience scrubbing and circulating as a RN in the operating room.

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
