Job summary

Providence St. Joseph Hospital of Orange is seeking an RNFA to assist the surgeon intra-operatively, control bleeding, provide wound exposure, and perform suturing under hospital policies.

Required: CA RN license, accredited RNFA course, 3 years OR scrub/circulate RN experience, and BLS. BSN preferred. Join a patient-focused care team at Providence.

Qualifications

• California Registered Nurse License required upon hire.
• Accredited RNFA course completed.
• 3 years of OR scrubbing/circulating RN experience.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon intra-operatively as RNFA.
• Control bleeding and provide wound exposure.
• Suture and perform other surgical tasks per scope.
• Follow California Board of Registered Nursing guidelines and hospital policies.

Job description

Under the direct supervision of the operating surgeon, the RNFA functions during the intra-operative phase by directly assisting the surgeon in controlling bleeding, providing wound exposure, suturing and other surgical tasks utilizing nursing and medical functions. The RNFA assists the surgeon in providing the patient with a safe operative experience. Utilizing specific knowledge, skills and judgment the RNFA performs these functions in accordance with the California Board of Registered Nursing, the RN as First Assistant to the Surgeon. In addition, the RNFA performs under the standardized procedure outlined in St. Joseph Hospital policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• Coursework/Training and Successful completion of an accredited RNFA course and


• Coursework/Training and Completion of established hours/cases of program


• Upon hire: California Registered Nurse License


• Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association


• 3 years of experience scrubbing and circulating as a RN in the operating room.
