Job description

We Are Hiring
  • Department: Cardiac Heart Center
  • Schedule: Rotating 10-hour shifts 6:30AM-5PM, Monday - Friday. Includes daily, weekend, and holiday on-call shifts shared equally among team members.
  • Hospital: Ascension Medical Group, Clinic
  • Location: 10590 N. Meridian, Carmel, IN

CRNFA certification preferred. Experience in first assisting in cardiac surgery and vein (EVH) harvesting skills are strongly preferred. Radial (ERH) harvesting skills are also preferred.

What You Will Do

Provide direct assistance to surgeons before, during, and after surgical procedures.

  • Position patients to optimize surgical exposure, using stabilizing equipment as needed, while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Implement physicians' orders to visualize the operative site, including tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
  • Use appropriate techniques to achieve hemostasis, both temporary and permanent.
  • Assist with wound closure, application of dressings, and securing drainage systems.
What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Required Credential(s):

  • Registered Nurse credential from the Indiana Board of Nursing prior to hire or transfer.
  • One or more of the following:
    • Advanced Life Support (AHA or ARC) obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer.
    • BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire or transfer.

Preferred Credential(s):

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (AHA or ARC).
  • Certified Registered Nurse in Operating Room (CCI).
  • Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (National Assistant at Surgery Certification).

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited nursing school or current professional licensure at the time of hire.
