Overview

Mansfield Orthopaedics at Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is in search of a RN First Assistant (RNFA) to join the team. This RNFA provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of the Hospital, collaborates with the patient, the patient's family, and other members of the health care team, and is responsible for the management and delivery of patient care in the intraoperative setting. The RNFA also assists the surgeon with patient-related care activities and always works in collaboration with the surgeon and other health care team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Position Details

This is a Full‑Time position (Part‑Time available). Copley Hospital offers a variety of shifts across Full-Time, Part-Time, and Per Diem needs.

Compensation: $32.09‑35 per hour. The posted salary range reflects compensation for candidates with limited experience. An offer may vary based on factors such as experience, education, skills, internal equity, and market data.

Responsibilities
  • Meet Copley Hospital standards related to telephone etiquette, customer service, comportment, inter‑departmental relations, confidentiality, corporate compliance, patient provider rights, UOR reporting mechanism, QI, and Code of Conduct.
  • Develop and maintain human care relationships, integrating the influence of the human experience of health, illness, and healing. Adapt care for diverse populations, assist colleagues with care delivery, and refer all concerns to appropriate resources.
  • Incorporate teaching in delivery of care and demonstrate competence in health promotion and disease prevention. Provide information to patient families appropriately, assess for barriers to learning, and utilize colleagues as a learning resource.
  • Apply leadership skills appropriately. Coordinate care within the multidisciplinary team, interact professionally, communicate directly, and verbalize scope of practice for self and others.
  • Support organizational values: Compassion and respect for human dignity, commitment to professional competence, commitment to a spirit of service, honesty, confidentiality, and good stewardship.
  • Notify direct supervisor of policy, procedure, law, and regulation infractions. If the supervisor does not resolve the issue, notify the supervisor manager, and if unresolved, notify the Corporate Compliance Officer.
  • Promote the practice’s public image both in the practice and outside, consistent with high‑quality health services.
  • Develop professional relationships and support all staff to enhance patient care and efficient clinical operations, acting as a supervisor and role model for nursing support staff. Abide by policies and procedures of the practice, Copley Health Systems Physician Practices, and Copley Health Systems Hospital.
  • Attend staff meetings and be responsible for ongoing education pertinent to the practice, including conferences, current publications, and other learning resources.
  • Counsel and teach patients on a variety of health care matters such as self‑care appropriate to patient’s medical problem.
  • Demonstrate unit‑specific skills requisite for the assigned service area.
  • Integrate various aspects of specific knowledge for the patient populations served within the unit area of hire, applying expected norms in planning interventions. Demonstrate integration of knowledge, skills, and abilities for the patient populations served in the unit of care.
  • Participate in continuing education programs and mandatory education to maintain competence and gain additional skills. Complete annual reviews and mandatory training such as BLS renewal. Ensure attendance and punctuality and attend or retrieve information from unit staff meetings.
  • Apply critical thinking, integration skills, and consider alternatives in a multitask workload. Collect and integrate data from multiple sources, seek appropriate assistance.
  • Communicate with patients, team members, and management in an accurate, timely manner. Report pertinent data, complete forms and charting, protect confidentiality, and attend staff meetings or retrieve information as needed.
  • Function as first assist in the OR under AORN scope of practice.
Qualifications

License and Certification Requirements: RNFA certification, current Vermont licensure, and BLS
