SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - St. Charles is seeking a Registered Nurse First Assist to support surgeons before, during, and after procedures. The role requires RNFA education or equivalency and two years of surgical RN experience.
Clinical duties include patient positioning, visualization of the operative field, hemostasis, wound closure, and postoperative nursing care. The position is day shift, with a 40-hour work week and a comprehensive benefits package.

Unit/location: Registered Nurse - First Assist Certified - SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - St. Charles.
Orientation Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6am-3pm. Schedule: Monday- Friday 10hour shift (6am-5pm). On-call responsibilities include 3-4 nights per month, with weekend and holiday call on a rotating schedule.

Completion of an RNFA program that meets the AORN standards for RN first assistant education program or RNFA education equivalency for CRNFA
Two years ‘ registered nurse experience in an advanced surgical specialty
Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication. Constant standing and walking. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors. Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Occasional lifting/moving of patients. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional driving. Rare crawling and running.
