The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA), possessing advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology, collaborates with all health team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Performs activities at an expanded level of perioperative nursing practice within the nursing process. Intra-operatively, the RNFA actively assists the surgeon, performing observable, technical behaviors based on scientific knowledge, as specified in the AORN Core Curriculum for the RNFA.
