Job summary

St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department Night shift to coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

The RN will work with medical providers, document care, educate patients and families, and support clinical outcomes in a fast-paced ER setting.

Qualifications

  • RN license and active state authorization.
  • /nACLS and BCLS/CPR certifications required.
  • /nPALS or equivalent pediatric life support.
  • /nTrauma certification or TPATC recommended.
  • /nStroke scale or assessment training within 90 days of start.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient pain regularly and promotes effective pain management; reassesses after interventions.
  • Documents care in the patient medical record promptly and thoroughly.
  • Responds promptly to patient requests and anticipates needs.
  • Educates patients, families, and caregivers about conditions, treatments, and follow-up.
  • Educates on lifestyle changes and self-management; prepares for future care.

Job description

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as \"Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.\" The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization's vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

  • Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
  • Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
  • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
  • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.
What Qualifications You Will Need
  • NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • (RN) Registered Nurse
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt, or ACLS Instructor, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Cour, or PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt, or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course, or (TPATC) Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
  • One or more years ER RN experience required
