Department: ICE | PeriopSvc APEC

Summary of Job Duties: RN provides patient support by taking appropriate action in response to questions, handling customer service inquiries, and functions as the contact point for clinical staff, referral sources, and patients. Ensures interface with other health care professionals as necessary to ensure a unified working relationship in providing patient care, responsible for entering instructions needed for scheduling in the patient’s electronic medical record. Receives and responds to phone calls promptly to discuss pre-procedural instructions with patients, carries out pre-procedural phone calls, and confirms appointment arrival times with patients, maintains working knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with an Associate's Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing
  • Valid RN License
  • Minimum of 1 year Registered Nursing experience

Responsibilities:

  • Collects and documents assessment data from patients and/or others per UAMS standard.
  • Develops patient's Plan of Care (POC) per department/unit standards utilizing assessment data.
  • Evaluates the progress of patients toward attainment of desired outcomes.
  • Administers medication following department/unit standards and Nurse Practice Act.
  • Verifies and evaluates care delivered to ensure it is consistent with patient and family centered care principles, practice standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports the integration of current evidence into nursing practices.
  • Promotes an environment conducive to positive educational experience for all students and staff.
  • Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.
  • Effectively collaborates and communicates with nursing staff at all levels, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicates care appropriately through documentation in the medical record.
  • Reports variances in care/ systems/ processes through the appropriate means. Participates in recruitment/retention of staff.
  • Facilitates development and implementation of nursing practice standards that are evidence-based and in compliance with ANA standards.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
