Job summary

Midland Memorial Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse focused on patient safety to provide care within the legal scope of practice and the policies of the hospital. The RN is accountable for quality of care and lifelong learning.

This full-time position offers a 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM shift, requires Texas RN licensure, and encourages BSN education and specialty certification. ACLS is required within 30 days for Endoscopy.

Qualifications

  • An associate’s degree (ADN) or diploma in nursing is required.
  • A BSN degree is preferred and MMH supports BSN education.
  • Current State of Texas license as a registered nurse.
  • Certification in specialty area (e.g., CEN, CPEN, CCRN, CNOR) preferred.
  • ACLS required within 30 days of employment in Endoscopy.

Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive assessments and data interpretation.
  • Develop goals, teaching plans, and expected outcomes based on assessments.
  • Implement and delegate plan of care within legal and ethical parameters.
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and coordinate follow-up care and referrals.

Education

Job Description

The RN, with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting. The RN functions under his or her own license and assumes accountability and responsibility for quality of care provided to patients and their families according to the standards of nursing practice. The RN demonstrates responsibility for continued competence in nursing practice, and develops insight through reflection, self‑analysis, self‑care, and lifelong learning.

Shift and Schedule

Full time – 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM with 5–8 call days per month.

Essential Functions / Performance Expectations
  • Complete a comprehensive assessment, including the initial and ongoing collection, analysis, and interpretation of data.
  • Synthesize the data collected during the comprehensive assessment to identify problems, make nursing diagnoses, and formulate goals, teaching plans, and outcomes.
  • Implement the plan of care. The RN may begin, deliver, assign, or delegate certain interventions within the plan of care for patients within legal, ethical, and regulatory parameters and in consideration of health restoration, disease prevention, wellness, and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
  • Evaluate and report patient outcomes and responses to therapeutic interventions in comparison to benchmarks from evidence‑based practice and research findings, and plan any follow‑up care and referrals to appropriate resources that may be needed.
Education and Experience
  • An associate’s degree (ADN) or diploma in nursing is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred. Our aim is that MMH nurses are prepared at the BSN level. We are committed to support your pursuit of a BSN education. A BSN and certification in the clinical area of expertise will be required to advance within the clinical nurse professional practice ladder.
  • Current State of Texas license as a registered nurse.
  • Certification in area of specialty (e.g., CEN, CPEN, CCRN, CNOR) preferred.
  • ACLS required within 30 days of date of employment in Endoscopy.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The individual must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non‑clinical staff.
