Job summary

Ochsner Health in New Orleans, LA seeks a registered nurse to provide comprehensive patient care using the nursing process. The role includes assessing learning needs, educating patients and families, and coordinating nursing team resources within an interdisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate holds an RN diploma, with preferred ADN, and must obtain BLS, CPI, ACLS and PALS within established timeframes; clinical specialty certification is welcome.

Education
  • Required - Registered nurse diploma.
  • Preferred - Associate degree in nursing.
Work Experience
  • Required - None.
Certifications
  • Required - Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certification.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire.
  • Preferred - Certification in clinical specialty area.

  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

Job Duties
  • Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
  • Assesses learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family and other groups or disciplines.
  • Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
  • Utilizes data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improvement in the profession of nursing.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
