Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Emergency Department at Unity Hospital in Rochester, NY. You will provide compassionate patient care, collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary team, and support patients, families and visitors through the nursing process.

Responsibilities

  • Care and service: complete the nursing process, collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team, perform procedures, support patients and families.
  • Plan and document individualized care plans with the health team, communicating status and progress.
  • Manage EHR: accurate documentation and communication.
  • Adhere to department protocols, regulations and education requirements.

STATUS:Full Time
LOCATION: Unity Hospital
DEPARTMENT: Emergency Department
SCHEDULE: 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Patient Care & Service. Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; performing various treatment procedures; providing physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervising assigned team members
  • Planning & Communication. Develop and document individualized care plans customized for each patient’s unique needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team as needed; maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans and progress
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) Management. Demonstrate proficient use of an EHR – including accurate patient and provider documentation and communication
  • Compliance. Adhere to required department and system protocols, regulations (local, state, federal) and education requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision‑making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask‑fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
