Job summary

CHI St. Joseph's Health in Park Rapids (CommonSpirit Health) seeks an ICU/ER Registered Nurse to provide life-saving care across ICU and Emergency Department settings.

You will transition between acute stabilization and long-term critical care, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of safety and dignity for every patient.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited professional nursing education program.
• Registered Nurse licensed by the State of Minnesota.
• BLS from the American Heart Association.
• ACLS must be obtained within six (6) months of start date.
• PALS must be obtained within six (6) months of start date.
• TNCC must be obtained within 12 months of start date.

Responsibilities

• Critical Care Management: provide high-acuity nursing care in ICU including ventilator management and complex meds titration.
• Emergency Stabilization: rapid ER triage, stabilization, and assistance with emergency procedures.
• Clinical Excellence: identify changes in patient status and adjust care plans with the medical team to improve outcomes.
• Culturally Competent Care: deliver care respectful of diverse community values and beliefs.
• Documentation & Advocacy: maintain accurate nursing care plans and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an ICU/ER Registered Nurse at CHI St. Joseph's Health, now part of CommonSpirit Health, you will be the backbone of critical care, providing life-saving interventions for our most vulnerable patients across both the Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency Department.

In this dynamic role, you will bridge the gap between acute stabilization and long-term critical care. You are a highly skilled clinician who thrives in high-acuity environments, capable of transitioning seamlessly between the fast-paced, unpredictable nature of the ER and the complex, high-monitoring requirements of the ICU. Whether you are managing a ventilator and titrating vasoactive drips in the ICU or performing rapid triage and stabilization in the ER, you will partner with a multidisciplinary team to deliver expert care, including central line assistance, arterial line monitoring, and advanced hemodynamic support.

Responsibilities:

• Critical Care Management: Provide comprehensive, high-acuity nursing care to patients in the ICU, including ventilator management, complex medication titration, and continuous hemodynamic monitoring.
• Emergency Stabilization: Perform rapid triage in the ER, stabilize patients in crisis, and assist providers with emergency procedures, adapting quickly to fluctuating patient volumes and acuity levels.
• Clinical Excellence: Utilize advanced assessment skills to identify subtle changes in patient status, proactively adjusting care plans and collaborating with the medical team to improve patient outcomes.
• Culturally Competent Care: Apply a deep understanding of cultural differences to provide care that is sensitive to the values, beliefs, and customs of our diverse community.
• Documentation & Advocacy: Maintain precise documentation of nursing care plans and patient progress while engaging in unit-based initiatives, such as mentoring new staff or participating in quality improvement projects to enhance the patient experience.

Job Requirements

Required

• Graduate of accredited professional nursing education program
• Registered Nurse licensed by the State of Minnesota
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within six (6) months of start date.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within six (6) months of start date.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) must be obtained within 12 months of start date.
