Responsibilities

The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle using nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. He/she functions within the framework of the organization’s policies and procedures, demonstrates professional growth and accountability, and maintains standards of practice. The staff nurse is responsible for coordinating patient‑care activities of all assigned staff to ensure the provision of quality nursing care.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate from a nursing program – Required
• Bachelor’s Degree – Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required; New graduates of a nursing program eligible – Required
• Nursing experience in a hospital setting – Preferred
• 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions – Required

Licenses and Certifications

• RN – Registered Nurse – Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure – Current license in the State of Georgia or NLC/eNCL multistate license required
• BCLS – Basic Life Support – Required

Additional Licenses and Certifications

• Advanced certification in the field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)

Addendum

• Cardiac Tele: ACLS Certification – required within 180 days of start date
• Critical Care: ACLS Certification – required within 180 days of start date
• Dialysis: CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) – preferred
• Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS Certification – required within 180 days of start date
• Infusion/Oncology: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification prior to independent chemotherapy administration – required upon hire
• Pediatrics: PALS Certification – required within 180 days of start date
• Surgical Services: PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU ACLS; PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients – required within 180 days of start date
• Women’s Services: Labor and Delivery‑ACLS Certification; NRP and other newborn certifications – required within 180 days of start date
