Responsibilities

• Utilizes the Nursing Process for patient care from Admission to Discharge, tailored to the developmental age of the patient.
• Performs patient assessment and reassessment according to standard procedures.
• Develops and coordinates individual care plans, including discharge planning.
• Directs, supervises, coordinates, and evaluates nursing care within the assigned clinical setting.
• Delegates appropriately based on job description and competency level.
• Documents patient care according to standard procedures.
• Develops, implements, and documents education plans for patients, families, and significant others.
• Ensures quality and continuity of care through collaboration with healthcare providers.
• Administers medications, performs treatments, therapies, and operates equipment per policy and procedure. Assists physicians with treatments, procedures, and tests as required or directed.
• Participates in and supports Nursing Governance activities.
• Assumes responsibility for professional growth and assists in staff education and development.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrates the use of quality improvement in daily operations.

Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities

• Follows departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
• Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars as required.
• Uses Quality Improvement in daily operations.
• Follows all health and safety regulations.
• Respects diverse views, demonstrates professionalism, tolerance, civility, and acceptance.
• Maintains reliable and predictable attendance.
• Performs other duties as required or directed.

Position Qualifications

All responsibilities are essential job functions.

License/Certification/Education

• Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
• BLS is required for all RNs; ACLS certification is preferred or required depending on the unit.

Preferred

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing highly preferred.

Experience/Skills

• Thorough knowledge of Nursing discipline.

Physical Demands and Environment

Work is medium intensity, indoors in a patient care environment.
