Job summary
Scripps Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Definitive Observation Unit (DOU) at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, CA. This full-time night-shift role supports a 38-bed unit with 1:3 to 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratios and a focus on postoperative spine surgery, stroke, and neurology patients.

Qualifications
- Registered nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current CA RN License.
- One year of RN experience, 6 months in inpatient environment.
- Current American Heart Association, Healthcare Provider, BLS Certification.
- Ability to read, speak and follow English instructions.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and provide individualized patient care in a stepdown/observation setting.
- Monitor postoperative patients, including vital signs and clinical status.
- Recognize and communicate changes in patient condition promptly to physicians and the care team.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support safe, effective care transitions.
- Maintain clear, compassionate communication with patients and their families.
- Promote an environment focused on restoring function, optimizing care, and honoring each patient's dignity, autonomy, and individuality.
