Job summary

Valley Hope of Boonville seeks an experienced Director of Nursing (RN) to lead the medical nursing services in a residential SUD/Detox setting. The DON will supervise nursing staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and guide clinical programs to support recovery in a compassionate environment.

The role requires MO RN licensure, 6+ years clinical nursing, 4+ years supervisory experience, and a background in healthcare accreditation within addiction treatment.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice in the state of employment.
• Six (6) plus years of clinical nursing care work experience.
• Six (6) plus years of progressive work and relevant industry experience.
• Four (4) plus years of supervisory and/or management experience.
• Work experience with healthcare accreditation with preference within the substance abuse treatment industry.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the medical nursing services for the residential treatment facility, including 24-hour professional nursing services, medical case management, inpatient medical care, and nursing orientation and training.
• Directly supervise the Assistant Nursing Director and all nursing staff, providing routine feedback, leadership, and mentoring for staff development.
• Ensure proper treatment during emergencies by nursing staff and adherence to policies for medical emergencies (e.g., convulsions, suicides, Delirium Tremens).
• Participate in performance improvement activities and lead efforts to improve medical nursing services and overall nursing care quality; collaborate to implement improvements facility-wide.
• Oversee and manage the security, control, and administration of drugs, medications, treatments, and tests as allowed by law.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure staff compliance with HIPAA and related policies.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards and maintain nursing service readiness.
• Lead initiatives to develop nursing staff competencies to meet required standards and guidelines.
• Ensure effective communication between medical and other clinical/support departments.
• Manage the nursing services annual budget and report financial status to leadership.
