Job summary

Carilion Clinic’s New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg, VA, seeks a full-time RN for dialysis care. Working 3-12 hour day shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) with on-call Sundays, EOW, and rotating holidays, you will assess and treat patients across ages, document in EMR, and support ongoing care planning.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes, educate patients and families, and participate in performance improvement initiatives while upholding regulatory

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program.
• Experience: None.
• Licensure/Registration: VA RN license or eligibility.
• Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required by area.
• Other: Keyboarding and EMR literacy; behavioral health safety expectations.

Responsibilities

• Provides individualized patient care across all ages and coordinates care delivery.
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Documents age-specific assessments and care in EMR; collaborates with the care team.
• Administers treatments and medications and supports patient/family education.
• Supports orientation and training of new staff and participates in quality initiatives.

How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:

This position is located at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRVMC) in Christiansburg, VA, working full time, 3-12 hour shifts (36 hours per week) 7:00AM-7:00PM, Monday-Saturday with rotating on call for Sundays. Will include EOW and rotating holidays.

The RN provides professional nursing care to patients across all age groups, supporting patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. This role collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient outcomes.

The RN

• Provides individualized patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages.
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Completes and documents age-specific assessments to support development of care plans.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.
• Administers treatments and medications accurately and documents care in electronic medical records.
• Identifies and addresses patient and family education needs.
• Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
• Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs.
• Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care.
• Demonstrates clinical expertise in dynamic and changing care environments.
• Implements strategies to improve patient outcomes and resource utilization.
• Serves as a role model and supports development of peers and team members.
• Manages resources, prioritizes tasks, and adapts to changing patient care needs.
• Supports orientation and training of new employees.

• Supports education activities within the department.

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.

Experience: None.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.

Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records. For Behavioral Health roles, must demonstrate ability to safely manage disruptive or potentially violent patients.

Compensation Range:

$33.52 - $50.28

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
