Job Specifics

Department of Primary & Specialty Care

Status

Full Time

Shift

Monday - Thursday 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Friday 7:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Provides direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process within a physician's office environment. Applies critical thinking to ensure the delivery of safe, quality, age-specific care. Delegates effectively to appropriate team members. Documents accurately and promptly. Communicates and collaborates with healthcare team members. Adheres to organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Current knowledge of nursing roles and scope as defined by the Ohio Nurse Practice Act and Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Knowledge of the ANA Code of Ethics.
  • Effective problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Equipment/Tools/Software
  • Basic computer literacy (keyboard, order entry, word processing).
  • Knowledge of and skill in using instrumentation/equipment for patient care in a physician’s office.
Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Assess/reassess patient’s condition through observation, interview, diagnosis, data, and diagnostic results.
  • Develop/revise nursing care plans based on professional knowledge.
  • Deliver safe nursing interventions in an organized, efficient, and prioritized manner.
  • Evaluate patient responses and progress toward outcomes.
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members, physicians, and other providers.
  • Accept and delegate responsibilities within scope of practice.
  • Document all patient care aspects timely and accurately.
  • Provide health education and instructions to patients and families.
  • Assist in orientation and training of staff and students; serve as a preceptor if requested.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and respond appropriately.
  • Maintain responsibility for individual performance and behavior according to standards and policies.
  • Promote safety and maintain confidentiality and privacy.
  • Use infection control principles and personal protective equipment appropriately.
  • Support organizational mission, values, and vision.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive, coordinated, team-based care management.
  • Float to assigned areas as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings, education, committees, QI activities, and in-services.
  • Maintain departmental functions and demonstrate personal/professional development.
  • Present a professional image and assist in cost control.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current licensure in Ohio.
  • Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience.
  • Previous Pediatric, Family Practice, or Emergency Department experience preferred.
  • ACLS certification required for certain specialties within one year.
