Job description

RN - Department of Specialty Care, Neurology Clinic, FT

Provides direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process within a Physician's office environment. Applies critical thinking to ensure the delivery of safe, quality, age-specific care. Delegates effectively to team members, documents accurately and promptly, and communicates with healthcare team members. Adheres to organizational policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and professional practice standards.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Current knowledge of nursing roles and scope of practice as defined by the Ohio Nurse Practice Act and Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Understanding of the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics.
  • Effective problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Equipment/Tools/Software

  • Basic computer skills including keyboarding, order entry, and word processing.
  • Knowledge of and skill in using instrumentation and equipment for patient care in a physician’s office.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Assess and reassess patient conditions based on observations, interviews, physician diagnoses, diagnostic results, and healthcare data.
  • Develop and revise nursing care plans based on professional knowledge.
  • Deliver safe nursing interventions in an organized and prioritized manner to meet patient needs.
  • Evaluate patient responses and progress toward expected outcomes.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
  • Accept and delegate responsibilities within scope of practice.
  • Document all patient care activities timely and accurately, maintaining records, care plans, and Kardex.
  • Provide health education and instructions to patients and families regarding treatments and procedures.
  • Assist in orientation and training of staff, students, and other personnel; serve as a preceptor when needed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of disaster and emergency procedures and respond appropriately.
  • Maintain responsibility and accountability for individual performance and adherence to standards and policies.
  • Promote safety and confidentiality, respecting privacy and property rights.
  • Use infection control principles and personal protective equipment appropriately.
  • Support the organization’s mission, values, and vision.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide coordinated, team-based care management for all patients.
  • Float to assigned areas as needed.
  • Support department functions and participate in meetings, education, committees, and quality improvement activities.
  • Demonstrate initiative in personal and professional development.
  • Present a professional image.
  • Assist in cost control through resource management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements Include

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program with current licensure in Ohio.
  • Current AHA Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience.
  • Preferred experience in Pediatrics, Family Practice, or Emergency Department.
  • ACLS certification required within one year for certain specialties.
