RN - Department of Specialty Care, Cardiology Clinic, FT
Provides direct/indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process within the environment of a Physician office. Applies critical thinking skills to assure the delivery of safe, quality, age-specific care. Delegates effectively to appropriate team members. Documents accurately and in a timely manner. Communicates and collaborates with other healthcare team members. Adheres to organizational policies and procedures; regulatory accrediting body requirements; and professional practice standards.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Current knowledge of the nursing role and scope of practice as defined by the State of Ohio Nurse Practice Act and the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- Current knowledge of American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics.
- Effective problem solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS/SOFTWARE
- Basic computer literacy (keyboarding; order entry; word processing).
- Knowledge of and skill in using all instrumentation/ equipment for patient care in a physician’s office.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess/reassess patient’s condition based on observation, interview, physician’s diagnosis, diagnostic results, and data from other healthcare providers.
- Develop/revise nursing plans of care for assigned patients using professional knowledge.
- Deliver safe nursing interventions in an organized, efficient, and prioritized manner to address identified needs.
- Evaluate patient’s response to nursing interventions and progress towards expected outcomes.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members, physicians, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care.
- Accept delegated responsibilities within scope of practice.
- Delegate responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
- Document all aspects of patient care and maintain patient records, Kardex, and care plans in a timely manner.
- Provide patients and families with relevant healthcare education and instructions regarding treatments and procedures.
- Assist in orientation and training of new and experienced personnel, including serving as a preceptor when requested.
- Demonstrate knowledge of disaster/emergency procedures and respond appropriately.
- Take responsibility and accountability for individual knowledge, skills, performance, and behavior in accordance with standards and policies.
- Utilize measures to promote and maintain safety for patients, visitors, and personnel.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the rights, privacy, and property of others.
- Apply infection control principles and personal protective equipment appropriately.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive, coordinated care management through team-based care.

REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current licensure in Ohio.
- Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience.
- Previous Pediatric, Family Practice, or Emergency Department experience preferred.
- ACLS certification required for certain specialties within one year.
