Job summary

Research Medical Center in Kansas City area seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for CV Prep and Recovery. The RN will care for adults undergoing cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures, preparing and recovering patients, administering meds, and documenting care in the CV Lab.

The role requires ACLS and BLS within stated time frames, with responsibilities including sedation administration, monitoring during tests, and collaboration with physicians and families.

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date (RN).
• Registered Nurse licensure with appropriate degree required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to adults in CV Prep and Recovery.
• Prepare patients for and recover them after cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures.
• Administer medications and document procedures for CV Prep and Recovery unit.
• Administer conscious sedation for transesophageal echo procedures and monitor patients during cardiac tests.
• Assist with equipment maintenance and participate in CQI activities.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general supervision of the Cardiovascular Services Director, Manager and CV Prep and Recovery Supervisor, the RN provides direct patient care to the adult patient population. Prepares patient for and recovers patient after cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures performed in the CV Lab, administers medications and performs procedural documentation for all patients while in the CV Prep and Recovery unit, administers conscious sedation to patients undergoing transesophageal echo procedures and monitors patients undergoing cardiac stress tests, tilt table tests and cardioversions. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the procedure preparation and recovery environment. Communicates with the physician and patient family as needed about patient condition. Assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory. Participates in departmental performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date (RN)
• Registered Nurse
