CNA Pathways to College Instructor (RN)
Description
Central AHEC’s “CNA Pathways to College Program” Instructor will train the students according to the curriculum designed and approved from the Department of Public Health to assist students to build knowledge and clinical skills aimed at passing the CNA Connecticut licensing exam. This is an evening part-time position, 20 hours per week, each cycle is four weeks and training is from 5 pm – 9 pm. The goal of the instructor is to also prepare the students to enter the healthcare field with an eye on the future and the tools necessary to begin working towards even loftier goals within the healthcare field. The training Instructor will be a part of a heavy emphasis on cultural competency with the goal of empowering students to work with people from across the spectrum as well as their families. Students will also be introduced to the various roles and occupations found throughout the healthcare field and the steps needed to pursue those roles.
Specific Responsibilities
The CNA Instructor will teach a minimum of 160 hours of classroom instruction and clinical supervision at our clinical site (Duncaster-Bloomfield).
The CNA Instructor will have the following duties and responsibilities:
1.Teach two cycles (June & August 2025) the course curriculum as outlined in the manual entitled Hartman’s Nursing Assistant Care: Long Term Care, fifth edition
2.Build knowledge and develop clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain the CNA license
3.Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained.
4.Communicate effectively with students, and all those affiliated with the coarse, including staff at clinical training facilities, agency staff and prospective employers.
5.Provide a stimulating environment that encourages students’ participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
6.Prepare and submit a dates and times designated all records and reports as required by the Executive Director.
7.Keep accurate and sufficient records of student grades and attendance;
8.Maintain a time sheet with all instructional hours and hours used in preparation, grading or other activities necessary to prepare for classroom instruction;
9.Keep current certificates of completion on file for each student and follow up and file all state license for each student that obtains their state certification/license.
10.Participate in the development/revision and implementation of assessment/data as appropriate.
11.Perform other duties assigned by the Executive Director.
Required Qualifications
1.Registered Nurse License in CT and state license number
2.Must provide proof of recent physical exam/TB test
3.Background check and drug/alcohol screenings
4.Current CT driver’s license
5.Five or more years of nursing experience and at least one year of experience in a nursing home.
6.Three or more years’ experience as a trainer or as a facilitator in any nursing program.
7.Ability to perform physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting.
8.Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.
9.Ability to work evenings. The training and clinicals are in the evenings, Monday-Friday from 5 pm – 9 pm.

The payrate is $40 an hour for 160 hours of training & no benefits/medical.
