Job Description:The primary role is to develop the Medical Assistant Teams and Medical Assistant Leads at SCL Health Medical Group Clinics with a focus on workflows, protocols and team building and development. This role will strongly collaborate with the Clinic Managers and partner with Process Improvement, Ambulatory Informatics, Pharmacy and other system resources.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Responsible for development and coaching of Medical Assistants (MA)2. Responsible for developing MA and MA lead clinic orientation and trainingmaterials. Maintain accountability with lead MA to accomplish orientation,education and training of MA staff3. Coach providers and MAs on building trusting work relationships thatmaximize patient centered care4. Act as a Subject Matter Expert for the MA Scope of Practice5. Make quality improvement recommendations by observing workflows,studying, evaluating and redesigning processes6. Responsible for execution of MA role in pharmacy guidelines includingvaccine administration process, controlled substances, CLIA (ClinicalLaboratory Improvement Amendments) proficiency and general medicationsafety practices7. Responsible for identifying, creating, implementing and standardizingnecessary MA protocols8. Participate in clinic QI (Quality Improvement) meetings to support MA drivenmeasures (for example, measures that rely on inreach) and activelyparticipate in clinic process improvement projects that focus on the MA role9. Participate in the interview process by providing guidance to lead MAs10. Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by servicebehavior standards.11. Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements:Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.ASN required.Preferred: Bachelor’s of NursingCurrent license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required.Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) course completion card from the American Heart Association is required.Experience working as a Registered Nurse at least 2 yearsPreferred: 3+ years of clinical nursing experience. Primary care nursing &/or Specialty care experience preferred.1+ years ofleadership/management including process improvement and change management experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essentialduty satisfactorily.
