SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for serving in a lead capacity by assisting with supervision of clinical staff; for providing leadership and orientation to clinical personnel; and for performing a variety of nursing duties in order to coordinate the delivery of care to patients. Serve as a role model, leader, consultant, collaborator, educator, and clinician within a specialty area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 95%. Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Serve as an expert professional nurse by assessing, prescribing, directing, practicing, and evaluating patient care in a designated group practice.
  • Provide direct patient treatment and care. Educate patient/family.
  • Assist the nursing staff in evaluating and implementing patient care needs.
  • Coordinate care for patients across the continuum of care, as required.
  • Collaborate with professional colleagues to define, implement, and evaluate the patient's plan of care.
  • Assist in supervising the daily activities of the clinical staff.
  • Participate in hiring, education/training, coaching/mentoring, assessment of competencies and evaluating staff (PEP).
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of staff schedules, including daily assignments.
  • Meet regularly with supervisor to resolve clinical & administrative issues/concerns to achieve optimal quality and patient care outcomes.
  • Utilize evidence based practice and quality data and to recommend/initiate improvements.
  • Coordinate the precept, orientation, and training new clinical staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a Master's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Five (5) years clinical RN experience required.
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) is required prior to completion of orientation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Experience in specialty area preferred.
  • Certification in a specialty area preferred.
