RN Clinical Staff Nurse - EmPATH - Full Time Nights $7 differential

Position Overview

The EmPATH Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care and managing patient care in a psychiatric emergency setting. Reporting to the EmPATH Manager, the nurse will organize, plan, and deliver patient-centered care based on the Watson Model of Care, with a focus on safety, assessment, and discharge planning for a defined group of patients. The role requires active participation in fulfilling the hospital’s mission and demonstrating core values.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide nursing care to mental health clients with potentially unstable conditions.
  2. Collaborate with physicians to evaluate for suicidal or homicidal tendencies and assess for psychosis, anxiety, and depression to determine the need for higher-level care.
  3. Oversee direct patient care, perform assessments, and ensure safety at all times, including evaluating eligibility for 5150 designation.
  4. Develop treatment and discharge plans in coordination with healthcare team members and families.
  5. Utilize the nursing process to anticipate and meet patient and family needs, recognizing subtle clinical changes and adjusting care plans accordingly.
  6. Maintain professional and therapeutic relationships with patients, conduct hourly rounds, and communicate using SBAR during hand-offs.
  7. Document patient care accurately following hospital policies and the Watson Model of Care.
  8. Participate in quality improvement activities and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in nursing or higher; BSN preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in acute adult psychiatric settings.
  • Current California Nursing license.
  • Ability to obtain AVADE certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and EMR experience preferred.
