Description

Under the general direction of the Director of Clinical Operations, the Clinical Manager leads the Patient Care Team. Responsibilities include supervising, evaluating, and coordinating the interdisciplinary team; directing patient care services; serving as a patient advocate; and coordinating with community healthcare providers involved in patient care. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position.

Education and/or Training Required

Associates Degree in Nursing; Bachelor’s degree preferred. One year supervisory experience in hospice or two years in healthcare organization.

Certifications/Licenses Required

Current Florida RN license. Certification in Hospice and Palliative Nursing required within one year of hire.

Experience/Skills

Excellent communication skills in English. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of hospice clinical systems preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, push, pull 25 pounds; good visual and auditory acuity; ability to work under stress; adaptable to various environments including those with smoke, tobacco, or pets.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage patient care services and review all patient admissions and discharges.
  • Maintain accurate medical records.
  • Monitor team services and coordinate staffing and resources.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary team input into care plans.
  • Provide direct patient care during low census or staff shortages.
  • Participate in clinical on-call rotation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Staff Supervision and Management
  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and recommend dismissal of staff.
  • Ensure staff competence through visits, documentation review, and education.
  • Mentor staff on clinical issues, documentation, and customer service.
  • Approve payroll and ensure proper documentation of work hours and expenses.
  • Supervise licensed practical nurses, aides, and care assistants under RN supervision.
