Job summary

University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center seeks a clinician with Epic optimization and training duties to develop, train, and evaluate clinical training for ambulatory staff. You will update training content with upgrades and ensure competency with the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience with implementation and/or optimization of clinical documentation and ordering in Epic.
• Familiar with major Epic modules/workflows at UT Southwestern (EpicCare Inpatient, ASAP, OpTime, Beacon, Phoenix, Stork, EpicCare Ambulatory and Anesthesia).
• PC proficient including Excel, Visio, Word, etc.

Responsibilities

• Primary facilitator of the process for development and optimization of order sets.
• Responsible for EPIC optimization projects for quality & safety involving workflows in different clinical areas.
• Work closely with care providers on new workflows and help develop education/tip sheets and just-in-time explanations in the EHR.
• Attend EHR governance meetings and represent the quality perspective.
• Attend working groups such as lab nursing partnership and medication safety and other quality and safety council meetings.
• Identify opportunities for more effective clinical decision support impacting hospital operations and drive implementation.
• Collaborate with Quality and Safety staff on topics like reporting, registries, medication safety, and accreditation.
• Maintain focus on patient safety and quality as hallmarks of EMR design and reporting.
• Maintain strong skills/understanding of EMR process and project, including literature review.
• Participate in key work groups to incorporate staff ideas and concerns.
• Communicate EMR progress to the EMR teams regularly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
