Job description

Overview

The Clinical Informatics Analyst-Nurse role is an advanced staff position responsible for operational support, optimization, and adoption activities supporting enterprise-wide clinical applications, specifically Epic clinical applications and non-Epic integrated clinical solutions. The Clinical Informatics Analyst-Nurse is expected to coordinate optimization activities through research, design, approval, testing, and communication phases using innovative change management strategies.

Responsibilities include supporting and mentoring region-based informatics teams, evaluating workflows to troubleshoot and identify improvement opportunities, and testing and training application functionalities. This role will collaborate with cross-functional IT and operational teams, as well as Executive Leadership.

Location: Remote - applicants must reside within the UnityPoint Health geographical footprint in Iowa, Illinois, or Wisconsin.

Hours: Monday-Friday, standard business hours.

Team Member Vaccine Requirements

Responsibilities

Issue Resolution

  • Support and resolve complex issues with assigned applications independently, adhering to service expectations and change management policies.
  • Utilize nursing knowledge to troubleshoot workflow issues.
  • Manage escalated customer issues, collaborating with multiple parties and vendors for resolution.

Operational Support and Improvement

  • Research and communicate options to support decision-making for tools and systems implementation.
  • Champion progressive change and proactively identify improvement opportunities.
  • Research solutions to enhance services based on modern nursing practices.
  • Support strategies to deliver accurate and timely healthcare information.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and feedback for effective communication and system design.
  • Build relationships with key customers, including Regional Informaticists, Leadership, Service Managers, CMIOs, and Physician Champions, providing direct support.
  • Ensure effective communication and downtime recovery procedures during incident management.
  • Oversee business continuity planning and regional audits for electronic health records.
  • Participate in enterprise-wide clinical governance and system enhancements.
  • Engage in decision-making and technical discussions, adhering to Epic standards and guidelines.
  • Support Epic training communications and share learnings from Epic educational offerings.
  • Use nursing expertise to guide EHR build and optimization.

Project Management

  • Lead and coordinate projects, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
  • Develop project plans, track progress, and escalate issues as needed.

Qualifications

  • Current registered nurse license in Iowa, Illinois, or Wisconsin.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience.
  • Epic Certification – Achieve and maintain certification within a year of hire.
  • Knowledge of healthcare information systems and processes.
