Position Overview

UW MEDICAL CENTER - MONTLAKE has an outstanding opportunity for a Second Level Review Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (RN). This is a full-time, remote, day shift position.

Position Highlights

Following established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines, the SLR CDIS provides expertise on focused accounts to ensure high-quality standards for risk adjustment, DRG accuracy, SOI, and ROM.

Department Description

The Clinical Documentation Integrity Program (CDIP) conducts concurrent reviews of inpatient records to ensure accurate reflection of patient severity, acuity, risk of mortality, and quality of care. Team members participate in multidisciplinary committees to promote quality and safety initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Review target DRGs as specified by the CDP Manager, focusing on elements like CC/MCC capture rate and risk adjustment.
  • Ensure documentation supports appropriate reimbursement based on patient acuity and services.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of clinical information for outcome measurement and reporting.
  • Participate in projects and initiatives within the Clinical Documentation Program, including education and evaluation of the CDI team.
  • Collaborate with coding staff, patient financial services, and compliance for clinical validation denial appeals.
Requirements
  • Current WA RN License or compact RN license.
  • Minimum 6 years of inpatient RN experience, with ER or ICU experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in a Clinical Documentation Improvement role.
  • Risk adjustment experience required (Vizient and Elixhauser preferred).
