The Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) is now recognized by our dedicated staff as a vibrant and dynamic unit that offers a unique blend of patient care experiences. The CDU is strategically divided into four distinct zones, essentially functioning as four units in one. These zones include:

• Cardiac and Neuro Stepdown: specialized care for patients recovering from cardiac events and neurological conditions requiring close monitoring.
• Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg): care for a wide variety of medical and surgical patients, offering diverse clinical experiences.
• Medical/Telemetry (Med/Tele): treatment for patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring.
• Observation: for patients admitted from the Emergency Department for 24-hour observation or further evaluation.

Staffing and Patient Ratios

• Typically 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, occasionally 1:5 for Observation depending on acuity.
• Supported by three Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).

The CDU is a fast-paced, high-energy environment that demands adaptability and efficiency. Despite this, the staff fosters a supportive, team-oriented culture with a true family vibe.

Unique Opportunities

The hybrid nature of the CDU offers nurses a chance to gain experience across various specialties within one unit. With approximately 50 beds, it provides a broad spectrum of patient populations, frequent admits and discharges, and continuous learning opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Washington Registered Nurse License upon hire.
• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
• 1 year of nursing experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• National Certification in your area of specialty upon hire.
