Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Registered Nurse to manage a patient caseload with 24-hour responsibility and coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, and other health professionals to achieve high-quality outcomes. This role entails planning care pathways, scheduling GI surgeries and follow-up visits, attending rounds, and acting as a bridge between patients and surgeons.

Requires Alabama RN licensure, BLS (ACLS/PALS may be required), and a BSN or ADN with relevant

Qualifications

• RN license in Alabama or eligible for licensure.
• BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of employment.
• ACLS and/or PALS may be required depending on unit.
• BSN with 3 years of nursing experience OR ADN with 5 years of nursing experience.
• Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Responsibilities

• Manages plan of care for a designated patient caseload.
• Serves as liaison with multidisciplinary care team.
• Coordinates care with physicians, nursing staff and other health professionals.
• Coordinates patient follow-up clinics and schedules tests and surgeries.
• Attends rounds and coordinates multidisciplinary care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
