Job summary

Covenant Medical Group's Knoxville Heart Group is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care on a dedicated unit and coordinate care planning with the team. This is a full-time role with a 72-hour pay period and day shift, designed for a patient-focused nurse who collaborates closely with physicians and staff.

Candidates should have at least three years of nursing experience and a valid Tennessee RN license; ongoing continuing education requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years professional nursing experience.
• Valid Tennessee RN license.
• Continuing education: 20 hours annually (10–20) with various options as described.

Responsibilities

• Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital care/nursing home care.
• Assesses needs of patient and family.
• Develops and initiates plan of care, involving patient and family.
• Recommends interventions.
• Evaluates plan of care.
• Clinical expertise and knowledge enables resolving complex patient/management/physician problems without supervision.
• Demonstrates competence in delivering care appropriate to age-specific needs.
• Leads process improvement initiatives in their unit or participates in facility team.
• Precepts new employees/students or attends preceptor workshops and may precept.
• Provides four contact hours of educational activities, excluding basic patient education.
• Contributes to development and evaluation of unit orientation program.
• Supervises LPNs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

• Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
• Leads process improvement initiatives in their own unit or participate in facility team.
• Precepts new employees/students or attends formal preceptor workshop and is willing to precept. Reviews clinical performance of preceptee with unit leader or clinical instructor.
• Provides four contact hours of educational activities, excluding basic patient education.
• Contributes to development and evaluation of unit orientation program.
• Supervises LPNs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience

Minimum of three (3) years professional experience.

Continuing Education

Twenty (20) hours required annually (10 to enhance clinical expertise); or Fifteen (15) hours required annually, plus ACLS certification; or Ten (10) hours required annually, plus specialty certification; or Ten (10) hours required annually, plus ACLS instructor.

Licensure Requirement

Valid Tennessee RN license. Yearly infection control, fire, safety and CPR in-services are required
