Job summary

Covenant Medical Group seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the Knoxville Heart Group. The role provides professional nursing care in a designated unit and requires coordination of care planning with other disciplines.

Responsibilities include assessing patient and family needs, developing care plans, and evaluating outcomes. A Tennessee RN license and continuing education hours are required; supervision of LPNs and precepting may be involved.

Qualifications

  • Valid Tennessee RN license is required.
  • Continuing education hours per year are required (20 hours or alternatives with ACLS or specialty certs).

  • Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital or nursing home care.
  • Assesses patient and family needs and develops/initiates a plan of care.
  • Recommends interventions and evaluates the plan of care.
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise to resolve complex patient/management problems without supervision.
  • Performs key nursing skills aligned with age-specific needs and leads unit-based process improvements.
  • Precepts new employees or students and may participate in preceptor training.
  • Provides four contact hours of educational activities (excluding basic patient education).
  • Contributes to development and evaluation of unit orientation program.
  • Supervises LPNs and performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.

  • Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital care/nursing home care.
  • Assesses needs of patient and family.
  • Develops and initiates plan of care, involving patient and family.
  • Recommends interventions.
  • Evaluates plan of care.
  • Clinical expertise and knowledge is such that individual can resolve complex patient/management/physician problems without supervision.
  • Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
  • Leads process improvement initiatives in their own unit or participate in facility team.
  • Precepts new employees/students or attends formal preceptor workshop and is willing to precept. Reviews clinical performance of preceptee with unit leader or clinical instructor.
  • Provides four contact hours of educational activities, excluding basic patient education.
  • Contributes to development and evaluation of unit orientation program.
  • Supervises LPNs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience

Minimum Of Three (3) Years Professional Experience.

Continuing Education

Twenty (20) hours required annually (10 to enhance clinical expertise); or Fifteen (15) hours required annually, plus ACLS certification; or

Ten (10) hours required annually, plus specialty certification; or

Ten (10) hours required annually, plus ACLS instructor.

Licensure Requirement

Valid Tennessee RN license. Yearly infection control, fire, safety and CPR in-services are required
