Qualifications

  • The RN must hold an ADN and an active RN license in Kentucky.
  • Minimum 3 years RN experience in ambulatory or physician practice.
  • Leadership or charge nurse experience preferred; quality improvement involvement a plus.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of employment.

RN Clinical Coordinator

Louisville, KY | Full Time | First Shift

The RN Clinical Coordinator serves as the clinical leader for the practice, combining direct patient care with the day-to-day coordination of clinical operations. This position utilizes professional nursing judgment to assess, triage, educate, and coordinate patient care while supporting providers and ensuring efficient clinical workflows.

The RN Clinical Coordinator provides clinical oversight of nursing and medical assistant staff and assists the Clinic/Practice Manager with staffing, competency development, regulatory compliance, and quality initiatives. This position also serves as a clinical resource for providers and staff.

The RN functions within the scope of professional licensure while promoting exceptional patient outcomes, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in the ambulatory/clinic setting.
  • Assess patients, utilize professional nursing judgment, and triage patient needs appropriately.
  • Coordinate patient care and communicate clinical information effectively with providers, patients, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatment plans, procedures, and other healthcare needs.
  • Assist with the efficient flow of patients throughout the clinic.
  • Obtain and document patient information, including vital signs, medications, medical history, and other pertinent clinical data.
  • Manage patient callbacks and prescription refill requests within the scope of professional nursing licensure and practice guidelines.
  • Administer medications, injections, IV therapy, and other treatments as ordered and within the scope of licensure and training.
  • Perform clinical procedures appropriate to the RN's scope of practice and level of training, including phlebotomy, EKGs, PFTs, spirometry, nebulizer treatments, ear irrigations, and other in-office procedures.
  • Perform and/or oversee in-office laboratory testing as directed by the provider.
  • Prepare in advance for provider clinics by reviewing schedules and patient records to ensure necessary documentation, testing, and information are available.
  • Assist providers with procedures and minor surgeries as needed.
  • Ensure appropriate sterilization and handling of instruments used for minor procedures and surgeries.
  • Monitor clinical supplies and assist with maintaining adequate inventory.
  • Provide clinical oversight, guidance, and support to nursing and medical assistant staff.
  • Assist the Clinic/Practice Manager with staffing needs, staff development, competency evaluations, and performance management.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of clinical competencies, policies, and procedures.
  • Support regulatory and accreditation requirements and promote compliance with applicable standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives designed to improve patient outcomes, safety, and clinical workflows.
  • Collaborate with referral sources and other healthcare providers to promote effective coordination of patient care.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and support for providers and clinical staff.
  • Promote a positive, patient-centered environment and exceptional patient experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of RN clinical experience in an ambulatory or physician practice setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership or charge nurse experience.
  • Previous supervisory or clinical coordinator experience preferred.
  • Experience leading or participating in quality improvement initiatives preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required within 90 days of employment.
