Job summary

Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD seeks a Registered Nurse to support cardiology and surgical teams in clinic, outreach, and hospital settings. You will obtain histories, document current medications, and help execute the physician’s plan of care.

Schedule is Monday through Friday, 20-30 hours per week with occasional MD on-call coverage; requires graduation from a nursing program and current RN licensure, with BLS and ACLS certifications.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program.
• Two years of critical care experience preferred.
• Current state RN licensure or licensure via Nursing Compact.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist cardiologists and surgeons in clinic, outreach, and hospital settings.
• Obtain and document history of present illness, past medical history, and current medications prior to physician assessment.
• Implement and carry out the physician's plan of care, delegating tasks as appropriate.

Position Highlights

Position Summary

Responsible for assisting the cardiologists and surgeons in the clinic, outreach, and hospital setting. The RN is responsible to obtain and document the initial history of present illness, past medical history, and current medications prior to the physician seeing the patient. The RN is responsible for implementing and carrying out the plan of care established by the physician either through delegation to the appropriate departments or completing the plan themselves.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday; Saturdays with AHH Call MD; Variable work hours according to MD schedule. 20-30 hours per week.

Education/Experience

Graduate of a nursing program. Two years of critical care experience is preferred

Licensure/Certification

Registered Nurse with current state licensure or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact

MN licensure required within 6 months of start date.

Current BLS and ACLS certification
