Job summary

PeaceHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the clinic as a Per Diem/Relief RN in Florence, Oregon. You will provide professional nursing care in a clinic/outpatient setting while promoting collaborative care from the care team and families.

Responsibilities include assessing patients, documenting care, and contributing to quality improvement and safety initiatives. BLS is required and ACLS may be required depending on the department.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in state of practice.
• 1 year of RN experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• ACLS may be required depending on department.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs in clinic/outpatient setting.
• Document patient care in the health record.
• Provide patient education and counseling.
• Participate in policy, procedure and quality improvement activities.
• Maintain safety, infection prevention and compliance standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Provides professional nursing care to patients in the clinic/outpatient setting in compliance with professional practice standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

Details of the Position

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs. This includes assessing patient’s condition, triaging patient phone calls, counseling patients, providing patient education, taking patient histories, administering prescribed medications, changing dressings, cleaning wounds and monitoring patient vital signs.
• Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
• Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
• Participates in the development of and maintains established policies, procedures and objectives.
• Participates in the development and implementation of quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What you bring:

• Accredited School of Nursing Required:
• 1 year Preferred: experience as a registered nurse
• Required: Registered Nurse in state of practice and
• Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support and
• May be required: Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Department / Location Specific Notes

PHMG:

• Demonstrates competence in making professional judgements pertaining to patient care.
• May screen and prioritize patient telephone or walk in inquiries concerning their medical care, prescription refills and insurance authorizations and referrals.
• Evaluates and responds appropriately to urgent or emergency situations.

Working Conditions

Lifting

• Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
• Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
• Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
• Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
• Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
• Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
• Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.

Mental/Visual

• Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
