Job summary

Summa Health System is seeking an RN Childbirth Instructor for per diem work at the Akron Lactation Center. The role conducts childbirth education and related health classes under supervision, applying nursing expertise and adult education principles.

Responsibilities include participating in curriculum development and revisions, delivering engaging presentations, and collaborating with the team to support patient families with dignity and respect.

Qualifications

RN with current Ohio license is required.
ADN is required; BSN preferred.
Certification required or to be obtained within 2–3 years.

Summary

Conducts childbirth education and other health related classes under supervision. Utilizes clinical nursing expertise; follows principles of adult education. Actively participates in curriculum and development and revision.

Minimum Education

Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) required, BSN preferred
Graduate of a program of professional nursing that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio
Certification preferred- or required to obtain within 2-3yrs.

Minimum Work Experience

Two (2) years' related clinical experience in a maternity setting

Required Skills Knowledge

Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to effectively interact with population of patients/clients with an understanding of their nees for self-respect and dignity.
Ability to deliver effective presentations to community groups including adults and children
Ability to demonstrate a variety of exercises.
Ability to work well in a team environment by accepting and offering honest and constructive feedback: by supporting team goals and encouraging other team members; and by collaborating with other team members to solve problems, create new solutions and/or reduce costs.
Maintains current Basic Life Support Certification.
Ability to have basic computer and audio-visual skills.
