Responsibilities

As a Charge Nurse, you will coordinate daily activities and distribution of work in the area during your scheduled shift. As a Preceptor Nurse, you will act as a professional educator and resource for new employees, demonstrating clinical expertise and competence. The approximate amount of overall participation in direct patient care activities is 80%, while Charge-Preceptor duties account for 20%. The roles between Charge and Preceptor may vary depending on patient acuity and volume issues. You will work with a unit-specific patient population, providing care and/or services to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. This position requires setting priorities based on the situation at hand and encompasses direct patient care, management (charge), and education (preceptor) roles with responsibility for a unit during an eight (8) to twelve (12) hour shift.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities, License or Certification Required:

  1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  2. Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  3. Must hold certification in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
  4. Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/License or Certification Preferred:

  1. BSN degree.
  2. Two (2) years recent experience in current clinical specialty (i.e., critical care, surgical services, diabetes education, radiology, etc.).
  3. Additional Life Support credentials (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
  4. Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.
Work Hours:

7AM-5PM
