Responsibilities & Requirements

The charge nurse leader oversees the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of safe, effective, patient-centered care during their shift. They facilitate, precept, and mentor staff to promote professional growth and skill development. The leader continuously assesses unit needs to ensure appropriate resources, collaborating with other departments to manage admissions, transfers, and discharges efficiently. They uphold professionalism, meet regulatory and policy standards, and ensure team accountability for safe, competent practice, quality care, and continuous improvement. The Charge Nurse reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required within 3 years of hire.
• Current RN licensure in Ohio.
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
• Work hours include days or nights with weekend commitments.
• CPR certification required; ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC certifications per unit requirement (must be obtained within 6 months if not current).
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching abilities, professionalism, ethical behavior, passion for nursing, and teamwork.
