Job summary

Guthrie is seeking an RN Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist for Value Based Reimbursement, full-time. The role focuses on analyzing patient records to reflect severity and ensure proper reimbursement; collaborates with physicians to educate on documentation quality and coding accuracy.

Minimum of 3 years clinical experience with chart reviews/coding preferred; RN licensure required with BSN preferred and CPC certification anticipated within 1 year of hire.

Qualifications

• A nursing diploma (RN) required with BSN preferred.
• Experience with quality chart reviews, abstracting, and coding preferred.
• Ability to organize and communicate effectively to educate providers and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates accurate and complete clinical documentation in the medical record reflecting services.
• Identifies diagnoses to capture severity and ensure appropriate reimbursement.
• Applies ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM coding guidelines in documentation.
• Interacts with physicians, nursing staff, and health care team to ensure accuracy.
• Projects performance and financial impact with leadership.
• Educates team on documentation needs, reimbursement issues, and improvements.
• Interprets legislative requirements for value-based purchasing programs.
• Prepares reports and monitors performance measures.
• Participates in professional development and maintains affiliations.
